Theme: ROOTS!
Saturday, September 6, 2025
On Saturday, September 6, 2025, the much-anticipated YPG Mega Help Event took place, gathering youth from across the Castries basin, Vieux Fort, and Dennery at the Universal Church, 25 Brazil Street, Castries. Under the powerful theme âRoots!â the event was filled with vibrant expressions of creativityâdance, drama, and musicâincluding a special performance by guest artist Mr. Markie.
But beyond the fun and celebration, the event carried a deeper purpose.
Addressing a Silent Struggle
Across the world, surveys reveal that countless young people wrestle with persistent feelings of sadness, anxiety, and hopelessness. Saint Lucia is no exception. Many youths silently endure sleepless nights, racing thoughts, and the crushing weight of despair. Outwardly, they wear a smile, but inwardly they battle pain, fear, and the haunting thought that their past or present struggles define them.
Yet, as the event speaker Pastor L. King declared: âThatâs a lie!â
Hope Rooted in Christ
Pointing to the life-changing promise of 2 Corinthians 5:17â
âTherefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, all things have become new.â
The pastor reminded the youth that unhealthy rootsâold labels, destructive habits, hidden woundsâcan be uprooted through faith. In their place, new, healthy roots can grow, firmly planted in Christ.
He proclaimed the central message of the event:
âMega Help exists to show every young person that through faith and action, it is possible to break free from whatever has been holding you back.â
Not Hostages to the Past
Each young person carries a storyâfamily history, mistakes, trauma, or strugglesâbut none of these define their identity. Pastor Luciano taught passionately: âYou are not a hostage to your roots!â
Instead, just as a gardener prunes away dead branches to give space for new growth, young people must choose to cut off what causes pain and hinders their progress. They must then nurture new life by:
- Filling their minds with uplifting truth, especially Godâs Word.
- Surrounding themselves with supportive, faith-filled friends.
- Committing to a community of encouragement like YPG.
Most importantly, they must replant their futureâenvisioning who God has called them to be and intentionally cultivating the life He desires for them.
Flourishing with Purpose
In closing, Pastor L. King declared:
âWhen you ground your identity in Godâs truth and your life in healthy choices, you will begin to flourish with purposeâgrowing stronger, reaching higher, and bearing good fruit that inspires others!â
The Mega Help Event left every attendee with the assurance that no matter their past, a new beginning is possible when their roots are planted in Christ.
