The book of Jeremiah tells us:
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes; but its leaf will be green and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will it cease from yielding fruit.” (Jeremiah 17:7–8)
In this passage, the waters symbolize the Word of God. Just as water cleanses and sustains life, God’s Word renews, purifies, and strengthens the minds and hearts of those who immerse themselves in it. A person who regularly turns to the Holy Scriptures allows their thoughts to be washed from doubt, fear, and confusion, replacing them with faith, clarity, and hope.
The roots stretching out towards the river represent more than simple proximity; they symbolise intentional effort. Roots push through the soil, overcoming resistance and persistently searching for what gives life. In the same way, seeking God requires dedication, discipline, and perseverance. It involves setting aside time, resisting distractions, and choosing depth over convenience. The deeper the roots grow, the more stable the tree becomes, able to stand firm even when external conditions are harsh.
Nowadays, it’s common for people to turn to artificial intelligence for quick answers, instant explanations, or solutions to everyday problems. While technology can be helpful in many areas of life, it cannot replace what is essential for the soul. When it comes to our salvation, faith, and eternal destiny, we must be more intentional and discerning. These matters demand wisdom, truth, and spiritual understanding.
For this reason, we must cultivate spiritual intelligence. This is not developed through algorithms or data, but through consistently feeding our minds with the Word of God. As we read, meditate on, and practice what is written in the Word of God, our faith matures, our discernment sharpens, and our relationship with God deepens.
It is in the Word that we should seek answers to our doubts, questions, and inner struggles. Those who do so become like the trees described in Jeremiah: their roots firmly extend toward the river. Their minds are anchored in God’s truth, and therefore, they don’t fear when difficulties arise. Even in seasons of spiritual drought or external pressure, they remain fruitful because their source is not the circumstances surrounding them, but God Himself.
