Many people dedicate themselves to achieving success, building careers and acquiring material possessions, yet often overlook what is most important â eternal life. While the things of this world may appear significant, they are temporary. This is why it is so important for each person to take time to reflect on the destiny of their soul and their relationship with God.
In Psalm 116:13 it is written: âI will take the cup of salvation and call upon the name of the Lord.â This verse reminds us that God offers the gift of eternal life to everyone. However, accepting it is a personal decision that each individual must make. It is freely offered, but it must be personally received.
This is clearly illustrated in the account of the two criminals who were crucified alongside the Lord Jesus. Although both men found themselves in the same situation, their responses were completely different. One recognised the Lordâs authority and received the promise of eternal life, while the other rejected that opportunity (Luke 23:32â43).
This powerful example shows that God continues to extend the same invitation today. Yet the decision belongs to each person. God does not force anyone to follow Him; He presents the way, but respects the freedom of every individual to choose.
For this reason, our eternal destiny depends on how we respond to Godâs call. Those who accept the Lord Jesus and remain faithful receive the promise of eternal life.
This Sunday, 28th June, all Universal Churches across Saint Lucia will hold the Cup of Salvation Service. All those attending will receive, free of charge, a small cup of water. This represents a decision to surrender your life to the Lord and to accept the salvation He offers.
So, what is your response going to be?
