THIS LEFT ME DISCOURAGED

Many are discouraged about their love life, but the guarantee of defeat is if they give up fighting. Don’t make any decisions driven by feelings. Don’t decide to give up; decide to seek help.

See what this Sacred Text says, written by the prophet Isaiah:
“I was distressed when I heard it; I was dismayed when I saw it….” Isaiah 21:3

Isaiah spoke of bad news that deeply saddened him. If even a prophet felt this way, it shows that discouragement is part of the human experience.

When discouragement affects your love life

Maybe you’re also down. It may be because of something you saw, heard or lived in your love life. Couples face crises. Singles get frustrated in failed relationship attempts. There comes a time when many think: “It doesn’t work anymore. I’m tired. For me, it’s over.”

I remember when my wife Cristiane reached her limit. The constant fights left us exhausted. So, she said, “I want to separate. It doesn’t work anymore.” But that’s precisely where we chose to fight – and not give up.

Giving up is not the way

It’s natural to feel tired. But the mistake is to let your feelings decide for you. Because when you give up, you’re defeated. But as long as there is a fight, there is a chance of victory.

God blesses those who persevere. True faith is persistent. That’s what Jesus taught Jairus when he learnt that his daughter had died. Faced with the worst news, Jesus said: “Do not be afraid, only believe.”

Decide with intelligent faith

That’s the word for you today: don’t decide to give up when discouraged. Decide to seek strength. Decide to act with intelligent faith, not with your emotions. Recognise that you need help and go after it.
Even the prophet felt discouraged. But he sought God, and you can do the same.

Today is your turning point

Therefore, leave discouragement aside and seek direction, strength, and wisdom to make the right decision. Do what reason directs, not what a fragile heart feels.

Don’t make decisions at the height of pain, but act with faith, intelligence and direction.
