Discover the paradox of life that the Lord Jesus taught us. Put this teaching into practice and experience true happiness!
Jesus Christ revealed a surprising principle about life: the more self-centred you are, the more unhappy you become. On the contrary, the more you dedicate yourself to helping others, serving, blessing, and being a positive influence, the happier you feel. This is the great paradox of true happiness, and it challenges human logic.
Of course, there are times when we must take care of ourselves. It’s not about selfishness but about staying focused on your own journey without getting lost and comparing yourself to others. However, true unhappiness is born when life revolves only around one’s own well-being at any cost.
Jesus’ teaching: love even your enemies
Jesus taught something radical: “But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return…” (Luke 6:35)
This attitude may seem absurd at first glance. Love an enemy? Why would you do that? Many think that this commandment is about the other, but in fact, it is about you. When you love those who have hurt you, you neutralise the poison of anger, hatred and revenge that wants to dominate your heart. You free yourself.
You fill yourself with good by doing good, even to those who don’t deserve it. Even if the other does not reciprocate, the benefit is already yours: inner peace, a clear conscience and lightness in the soul.
Giving is receiving: a counterpoint to human logic
Jesus also said: “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom…” (Luke 6:38)
The world says, “Accumulate,” “Retain,” and “Think of yourself first.” But the Kingdom of God teaches, “Give, share, serve.” While many live according to what they can take from others, Jesus invites us to live according to what we can offer.
This new way of living – thinking about others – seems ridiculous to many. “Am I a fool?”, “Are people going to take advantage of me?” some think. But the truth is that this is the path of happiness that Jesus guaranteed. Doing good transforms first who does it.
Doing good is good
It may seem obvious, but in times of selfishness disguised as “personal freedom”, we must remember that doing good is good for you. When you help someone, even without recognition, your soul is filled with peace and joy. You sleep better, live lighter and walk with purpose.
On the other hand, those who live only for themselves, always trying to take advantage, carry an invisible burden. They bring to bed racing thoughts, anger, hurt, and desires for revenge. This generates stress, anxiety and even physical diseases that medicines do not cure – because the root is in the soul.
A new philosophy of life
You can choose to live differently. Start at home: Instead of waiting to be served, serve. See what your mother, father, spouse, or brother needs. Wash the dishes before they tell you to. Surprise with actions that show love, not to receive compliments, but because now you live with a new purpose.
At work, be the employee who contributes beyond the minimum and impacts the work environment responsibly and positively. Live like someone who understands that happiness is not receiving but giving, without expecting anything in return.
The secret revealed by Jesus
This is not just any motivational philosophy. It is a spiritual principle revealed by Jesus. He assured that those who live like this will be rewarded. And it’s not just a future reward but an immediate inner transformation.
By shifting the focus from “what I can gain” to “what I can offer”, you will find a new level of joy. And you will be surprised that you spent so much time trying to be happy in your own way when true happiness was in living as Jesus taught.
