Universal Church Opens New Locations in Spain

The Universal Church has expanded its presence in Spain with the opening of new locations in Albacete and Logroño, giving more people access to regular meetings, spiritual support and community outreach.

The two inaugurations took place in July 2026, marking another step in the Church’s continued growth across the country. The new spaces were prepared not only for church services, but also to support children, young people, volunteers and social assistance programmes.

New Universal Church Opens in Albacete

The first inauguration took place on 14 July 2026 at 54 Dionisio Guardiola Street in Albacete, in the Castilla-La Mancha region.

Around 130 people attended the opening meeting, including approximately 40 first-time visitors. The new church has capacity for 120 people and offers a larger, better-equipped environment for those seeking prayer, spiritual guidance and a closer relationship with God.

The building also includes dedicated areas for:

  • Children
  • Teenagers
  • Young people
  • Volunteers
  • Storage for materials used in social assistance programmes

These facilities allow the church to serve both the spiritual and practical needs of the local community.

A House of Prayer for the Community

Bishop Joaquim Fernandes led the inaugural meeting and spoke about the importance of seeking God, especially during difficult moments.

During the service, he consecrated the altar with blessed olive oil and anointed those present before sharing a message based on 2 Chronicles 7:14:

“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

The message highlighted the importance of humility, prayer and a sincere decision to turn to God.

Bishop Joaquim also reflected on verse 15:

“Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place.”

The passage reinforced the purpose of the new location: to be a place where people can pray, seek God and receive spiritual support.

Logroño Receives a Permanent Church

Twelve days later, on 26 July 2026, the Universal Church opened another new location in Logroño, the capital of the La Rioja region.

For around two and a half years, meetings in the city had been held once a week in an event hall. With the opening of the permanent church, meetings can now take place throughout the week.

The new church is located at:

6 San Matías Street, Logroño

The building can accommodate up to 120 people and includes an additional space for the Children’s Biblical Centre, providing a dedicated area for younger attendees.

More than 30 regular attendees who had previously participated in the weekly meetings were present for the inauguration.

From Weekly Meetings to a Permanent Presence

The Logroño opening represents more than simply moving into a new building.

For two and a half years, the work had already been developing through weekly meetings. The permanent location now gives the Church greater flexibility to provide meetings, prayer and spiritual assistance throughout the week.

It also gives the local community a consistent place to seek support.

Universal Church Continues to Grow in Spain

The new churches in Albacete and Logroño form part of a wider period of growth for the Universal Church in Spain.

In 2026, the Church also celebrated 34 years of work in Spain, alongside the inauguration of a new altar at the national headquarters in Madrid.

The openings reflect the Church’s wider mission to take the Gospel to more communities while providing places where people can receive prayer, spiritual guidance and practical support.

The purpose of each new church goes beyond the building itself.

It is about creating opportunities for people to seek God.

The Bible says:

“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.”
Mark 16:15

With new doors now open in Albacete and Logroño, more people in Spain have the opportunity to hear the Word of God and receive spiritual support in their local communities.

A Mission That Continues to Expand

The Universal Church is currently present in 151 countries, continuing its work of evangelism, spiritual assistance and social outreach around the world.

The openings in Albacete and Logroño are part of that wider mission.

What may begin as one meeting, one prayer or one new location can become the starting point for someone seeking a new direction in life.

And as more communities are reached, the purpose remains the same: to take the Gospel to those who need it and keep the doors open for anyone who wants to seek God.
